Model Intercomparison Project

mip_abstract | The Radiative Forcing Model Intercomparison Project (RFMIP) was developed in parallel with, and endorsed by, CMIP6 to answer the question “How does the Earth System Respond to Forcing?”. With a focus on diagnosing the effective radiative forcing and its components, RFMIP has become a key resource for characterizing radiative forcing from greenhouse gases and aerosols across climate models, identifying sources of model diversity, and for understanding the role of radiative forcing in historical and future climate change more broadly. A second iteration of RFMIP will adhere to these same motivations in an effort to re-evaluate radiative forcing for CMIP7. |
