| justification | Future projections of hydroclimatic hazards at regional scale are essential for assessing what adaptation actions and resilience building measures are needed to ensure water security. The most widely-used drought index for drought assessments, the Standardized Precipitation-Evapotranspiration Index (SPEI), requires the potential evapotranspiration (PET) variable. The frequency required depends on the region, monthly data might suffice in some places (notably in the tropics where interannual variability is often more pronounced). Thus, we request this variable group at monthly timescale, also taking into account the limited computational capacity in the Global South which might only allow the analysis of monthly data. |
