Each Physical Parameter record defines a MIP variable name, associated with a CF Standard Name. Formerly known as MIP Variables in CMIP6

| description | The phrase "change\_over\_time\_in\_X" means change in a quantity X over a time-interval, which should be defined by the bounds of the time coordinate. "Canopy" means the plant or vegetation canopy. Canopy water is the water on the canopy. "Water" means water in all phases, including frozen, i.e. ice and snow. "Amount" means mass per unit area. |
